Four UK universities operating international branch campuses in India are set to organise a joint placement drive for their postgraduate students graduating in 2027, opening up an early recruitment opportunity for employers across sectors. The initiative will bring together more than 250 students from the founding postgraduate cohorts of the University of Bristol, University of York, University of Liverpool and the University of Aberdeen. The placement week, scheduled to be convened by Emeritus by the end of November 2026, will allow participating employers to interview shortlisted candidates and issue offer letters before their graduation in 2027. The recruitment exercise will cover students enrolled at the University of Bristol Mumbai Enterprise Campus, the University of York Mumbai, the University of Liverpool Bengaluru and the University of Aberdeen Mumbai. The initiative marks the first time that the four universities have come together to provide employers with access to their postgraduate talent pool through a coordinated placement exercise.

Employers to get early access to postgraduate talent across four campuses

The placement drive will operate through an invitation-only, early-access recruitment model. Employers, including chief human resource officers (CHROs), human resource teams, talent acquisition professionals, and business leaders, will be able to engage with students before they complete their postgraduate programmes. The participating institutions will follow a centralised selection process to match employer requirements with student profiles. A placement committee will first assess applications from organisations and conduct screening discussions to understand their recruitment requirements. The universities will subsequently evaluate student profiles against the roles on offer and identify candidates who meet the specified criteria.Employers shortlisted for participation will be invited to the placement week, where they can conduct interviews either in person or online. Interviews will be facilitated across the four campuses in Mumbai and Bengaluru, with organisations permitted to extend employment offers ahead of the students’ graduation.

Finance, technology, AI, and management among disciplines represented

The placement exercise will bring together more than 250 postgraduate students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. The participating cohorts include both fresh graduates and candidates with previous industry experience, averaging between 2.4 and three years. The academic disciplines represented include finance, technology, artificial intelligence (AI), management, and creative industries. Students also bring educational backgrounds in engineering, computer science, business administration, commerce, finance, and science.Their professional experience spans banking and financial services, information technology, consulting, audit and accounting, sales, marketing, client-facing functions, product management, business analytics, media, and design. The combination of academic specializations and prior work experience is expected to give employers access to candidates with exposure to different business functions and industry requirements.

UK universities’ Indian campuses operate under UGC regulations

The four institutions are operating their Indian campuses under the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) regulations for foreign higher educational institutions. The regulatory framework was introduced in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which provides for eligible foreign universities to establish campuses in India. The universities follow curricula developed by their respective home campuses in the UK and maintain the same academic assessment standards. Students enrolled at the Indian campuses receive the same qualifications as their counterparts studying at the respective UK institutions. The campuses have also been established in proximity to corporate offices and multinational companies, with an emphasis on connecting academic learning with industry requirements. Students are exposed to live projects, practical assignments, and challenges drawn from corporate environments, providing opportunities to apply classroom learning to workplace situations. The initiative also aligns with the broader India-UK Vision 2035, which seeks to deepen cooperation between the two countries across areas including education, skills, and economic engagement.

How employers can participate in the placement drive

Organisations interested in recruiting from the postgraduate cohorts can register their interest by mid-November 2026 by writing to placements@emeritus.org.A centralised placement committee will examine the requests and conduct screening sessions to understand the organisations’ hiring needs. Student profiles will then be assessed against the available roles before eligible employers are invited to participate in the placement week. The recruitment exercise will give companies an opportunity to engage with postgraduate candidates from four UK universities’ Indian campuses, conduct interviews and make employment offers before the students complete their degrees in 2027.
