NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to the victims of 9/11 terror attacks in the United States on its 25th anniversary.Calling India as a “victim of cross-border terrorism”, PM Modi said that the New Delhi will continue to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestation.“25 years on from the horrific 9/11 attacks, we remember and honour the victims and stand in solidarity with the families whose lives were forever changed. Terrorism has claimed countless lives around the world. As a victim of cross-border terrorism, India has been at the forefront of this fight for several decades,” PM Modi said in a social media post.

Two planes crashed into the World Trade Centre’s Twin Towers in New York, while a third struck the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth aircraft crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew attempted to regain control.The attacks killed 2,977 people, according to official US figures. The tragedy triggered sweeping changes in US counterterrorism policy, military operations and domestic security measures.At Ground Zero in New York, annual remembrance ceremonies continue to honour the victims, with their names read aloud by family members and loved ones. The attacks were orchestrated by al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.
