After a long wait, Vijay’s much-anticipated final film ‘Jana Nayagan’ arrived in theatres on July 23 giving his fans a special reason to celebrate. The film marked his last big-screen appearance as he focuses on his political career and takes responsibilities as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Now, following its theatrical release, the film’s digital streaming platform has officially revealed its OTT premiere date.
‘Jana Nayagan’ gets OTT release date
Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ will officially begin streaming on Zee5. The OTT platform took to its social media to reveal that the film will premiere on its platform on August 21.Sharing a 3D animated video of an actor Vijay Thalapathy driving a gypsy vehicle and comes out of it with a swagger to put a downward hand-slashing gesture as the CM.Along with the video the makers wrote, “Thangamey! Thalapathy #Jananayagan is all set to meet you all on 21st August only on Zee 5”.The film is expected to be available in multiple Indian languages as well. This will allow Vijay fans who could not watch the film in theatres to finally watch his farewell movie from home.

Directed by H Vinoth, the film is a political action drama which shows Vijay’s character by the name Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, a former official who adopts a young girl named Viji. He wants him to become less afraid and brave, encouraging her to join forces.The film did not receive the expected response for its content. Although, it received mixed reactions and faced criticism from many viewers. Vijay’s strong fan following helped the film maintain a good run at the box office despite the fact the film saw multiple hurdles to get a theatrical release.Initially, the film got delayed as it didn’t receive censor certificate from CBFC and later its HD copy got leaked before its release.
‘Jana Nayagan’ box office run
The total India net collections stands at Rs 196.97 crore and overseas collections at Rs 93.20 crore according to trade analyst Sacnilk. The movie made over Rs 321.75 crore at its worldwide collection.The film stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Sunil in key roles.The music of the film is composed by star musician Anirudh Ravichander.
