CBI takes over Suvendu ex-aide murder probe | India News
NEW DELHI: CBI has filed an FIR and taken over the investigation into the murder of Chandranath Rath, former personal assistant to West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari, reports Rajshekhar Jha. The agency has formed a seven-member SIT, headed by a DIG-rank officer, to probe the case. A meeting was held at the CBI headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday to review developments. The team has sought the remand of arrested suspects. According to an office order issued to form the SIT, the move follows the registration of a case by CBI Anti-Corruption Branch in Kolkata. The SIT is led by DIG Pankaj Kumar Singh of CBI’s Special Crimes Division in New Delhi. The team features a diverse group of high-ranking officials, including SP Subhash Chandra Kundu and SP Anil Kumar Yadav from New Delhi, alongside DSPs and inspectors drawn from the bureau’s branches in Dhanbad, Patna, Ranchi and Lucknow. Operational supervision of the SIT’s work will be the responsibility of the joint director of Kolkata Zone, who has been authorised to draft additional personnel from local units as and when required to ensure a th-orough inv-estigation.
