The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has released the list of shortlisted candidates for admission to its Bachelor of Cybersecurity (B.Cyber.) programme for the 2026 academic session. Candidates who applied for the course can check whether they have been shortlisted by visiting the official website, iitk.ac.in, and searching for their application number.According to the institute, 120 candidates have been shortlisted to appear for the admission test.IIT Kanpur has informed that shortlisted candidates will receive a confirmation email along with a confirmation form by the end of the day on June 29, 2026.Candidates whose names appear in the shortlist but who do not receive the email can contact the institute by writing to office_is@iitk.ac.in.The application process for the B.Cyber programme began on June 15 and closed on June 25, 2026. The shortlist was published on June 29, 2026.

Admission test schedule

The B.Cyber admission test will be held on July 5, 2026, at the IIT Kanpur campus.Candidates must report to the examination venue by 9:00 AM. Entry to the exam centre will close at 9:45 AM, and no candidate will be allowed to enter after that time.Instructions and login procedures will be completed by 10:00 AM, while the admission test will be conducted from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.The institute will declare the admission test results on July 8, 2026. Candidates who are selected will have to report to IIT Kanpur on July 21, 2026, to complete the admission process.

Important guidelines for candidates

Candidates must carry a valid photo identity proof and report to the examination venue on time. They will also be required to sign a consent form before the assessment begins.The institute has instructed candidates to use only the computer system, login credentials, and approved tools provided during the examination. They must remain at their assigned workstation throughout the test and immediately inform the proctor if they face any technical issues.The use of unauthorised devices, internet access, email services, messaging applications, or any external resources is strictly prohibited. Candidates must also avoid communicating with other participants, sharing challenge content, or attempting to manipulate the scoring system. Any violation of the rules will lead to immediate disqualification.

Admission test syllabus

The B.Cyber admission test, which will be conducted in a hackathon format, will cover topics such as:

  • Cryptography
  • Web security
  • API security
  • Network security
  • Reverse engineering
  • Open-source intelligence (OSINT)

According to the institute, the assessment is designed to evaluate candidates’ analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, curiosity, and aptitude for cybersecurity.
